Overnight staying

For most patients certainly if they have surgery in the afternoon, that they stay overnight in hospital so you come in at lunchtime, have your surgery in the afternoon and go home the following morning after I reviewed you. I think this is great, for one thing you’ve got expert nurses looking after you for that whole period and you don’t have to worry whether something is normal abnormal, are you bleeding a little bit too much, do you have to be concerned about it and I think the peace of mind you get from that level of care is really great.

Benefits of staying

It also means I can see you the next morning and check you the next morning, to make sure everything’s okay. Often a lot of my patients travel a long way to have rhinoplasty with me, now they could go home but then that’s not possible for them to come and visit me the next day, so again it’s another great reason for staying in hospital overnight with nurses who really understand about rhinoplasty.

Maximise the healing

The other thing I’m really keen on is that before you go home, your nasal dressing is checked and that your nose is clean and the best healthy state possible, to maximise  healing and that means two things: 1 it means expert nurses caring for your nose and cleaning the wound in the nostrils the following morning but it also means they will teach you how to do that for yourself and I’m really keen that you do know the proper care and know how to administer that care to yourself, before you get home so in that vast majority of cases I advocate the positive side of staying in hospital overnight it

A Rhinoplasty review

I just wanted to say day two after my surgery, I have no idea what my nose looks like and even with the swelling the function of my nose has improved massively. I am really grateful and want to thank everyone for making this happen.  On the day of the surgery I was so nervous Mr Rowe-Jones was amazing!
